A Need to Give Back

Who are we kidding?  We know how fortunate we are.  We live in a great country with endless opportunity, we all have jobs we love, and we have the love and support of our families.    However, as we go on with our busy daily lives,  it is easy to lose focus of those who are less fortunate, weather it be halfway around the world, or right in our backyard.  As a reminder to ourselves, we our corporate mission statement includes the following statement:

“We support the communities we serve through social action and by the charitable giving of our time and resources.”

What does this mean exactly?  Simply put, one of the cornerstones of our everyday operating philosophy is that, no matter how small or large, we commit ourselves to finding ways to enrich the lives of those around us, and implore those that work with us to do the same.

How do we do it?   We have both informal and informal approaches –   On a day to day basis, it may involve coaching a youth sports team or giving a little extra to our church or local food shelf.   But we don’t stop there. In addition to everyday support, we also try to have a more formal approach to our giving.   We are constantly soliciting our employees, appraisers and clients for their input on causes that they hold near and dear. Each year, as a company, we take a close look at the suggestions we have received, and we identify those that we feel are most worthy. (Not always an easy decision!)  We are always keeping a keen eye and ear out for what is going on around us, and as a result, our opinions & focus may change from year to year.

For example, some of the many causes that we have considered in the past are:

Long story short, we love to give and always wish we could do more.  We honestly believe that if you do good thing, good things will happen.  So far, this approach is working out great for us.  (Did we mention we love our jobs?)

If you have an organization that you would like us to consider, we would love to hear more about it.   Please feel free to send us a note at giving@theappraiserguy.com and tell us about your cause.  We’ll take a look and maybe we can help!
